Beta Terms of Service
The agreement that governs your firm’s use of Pebble while the product is in free beta.
These terms govern use of the Pebble document management service (the “Service”) during its beta period. The Service is provided by Global Nomad Services Limited, trading as Pebble, a company registered in England and Wales (company no. 16037555), registered office: 22 Friars Street, Sudbury, Suffolk, CO10 2AA (“Pebble”, “we”).
By creating a workspace or using the Service, you accept these terms on behalf of the firm you represent (the “Customer”, “you”).
The Service
Pebble is a document management platform for law firms: secure document intake, storage, organisation, and AI-assisted classification and review.
The Service is in beta. It is under active development; features may be added, changed or removed, and occasional interruptions or defects are to be expected. We will use reasonable efforts to keep the Service available and to communicate significant changes, but we make no availability commitments during the beta.
Fees
The Service is provided free of charge during the beta. If and when paid plans are introduced, we will give you reasonable advance notice and the choice to subscribe or to end your use; you will never be charged without your express agreement.
Your responsibilities
You will use the Service only for lawful purposes connected with your firm’s legal practice, keep your account credentials secure, and ensure your users do the same.
You are responsible for the documents and data your firm uploads, including ensuring a lawful basis exists under applicable data protection law for processing your clients’ information, as set out in our Data Processing Agreement.
You will not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, interfere with its operation, or use it to develop a competing product.
Data protection
Pebble processes personal data contained in your documents only on your behalf and on your instructions. Our Data Processing Agreement is incorporated into these terms and governs that processing, including EU data residency, security measures, subprocessors, breach notification, and deletion or return of your data.
Ownership
You and your clients retain all rights in the documents and data you upload. We claim no ownership of your content and use it only to provide the Service.
Pebble retains all rights in the Service, its software, and its design. You receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service during the beta.
If you give us feedback or suggestions about the Service, we may use them to improve Pebble without obligation or attribution. Feedback never includes your clients’ data.
Confidentiality
Each party will keep confidential any non-public information received from the other in connection with the beta and use it only for the purposes of the beta. This obligation survives the end of these terms.
Term and termination
These terms apply from your first use of the Service until ended. Either party may end them at any time, for any reason, by written notice (email suffices).
On termination, your data will be returned or deleted in accordance with clause 12 of the Data Processing Agreement (deletion or return within 30 days, at your choice).
Warranties and liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. AI-assisted outputs (such as document classification and review suggestions) are aids to your professional judgment, not legal advice, and must be verified by a qualified person before being relied upon.
Neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss of business. Each party’s total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with these terms is limited to £1,000, except for liability under the Data Processing Agreement to the extent stated there.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
General
We may update these terms during the beta with reasonable notice; continued use after the notice period constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept a change, you may end these terms under clause 7.
These terms, together with the Data Processing Agreement, are the entire agreement between the parties regarding the beta and supersede prior discussions.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
